Mosaic gallery of the Budde House completed

From July 19 to 30, 2023, as part of an inclusive artistic project, young people from Europe and trainees from the Leipzig Vocational Training Center for the Hearing and Speech Impaired designed the third and last wall mosaic in a three-part mosaic gallery.

After 2021 and 2022, part 3 of the mosaic gallery followed. Under the direction of the Leipzig mosaic artist Jana Beerhold, a 2×2 meter large wall mosaic on the subject of space was created in the entrance area of the Budde house. There were four young people from other European countries (Spain, Hungary, the Netherlands) and six trainees from the Leipzig Vocational Training Center for the Hearing and Speech Impaired. They were involved in the entire artistic process: from the design draft to the attachment of the many hundreds of small mosaic stones. The mosaic was publicly inaugurated on July 1st.

This was the culmination of a three-year project. The mosaic gallery not only increases the attractiveness of the Budde Haus site, but also improves the overall quality of stay. It is also an expression of socio-cultural work. Because the mosaic gallery was a joint effort by very different people. And it was a participatory project that enabled participation in art, culture and encounters without looking at origin and social class.

The project was organized by FAIRbund e. V. (Budde-Haus, EU exchange projects). Sponsors were the European Union and the State Directorate of Saxony: "This measure was co-financed by taxes on the basis of the budget decided by the Saxon State Parliament."
